Five Washington-Area Companies Selected to Present at June 12 Grubstake Breakfast

 

 

June 6 , 2007, FAIRFAX, VA – Five Washington-area companies have been selected by the Business Alliance of George Mason University to present their business plans to an audience of investors and service providers at the Grubstake Breakfast on Tuesday, June 12, at the McLean Hilton.

Silver Spring-based GlobeCom21 has developed a software solution for enterprise risk and emergency management, comprising risk assessment and prevention, preparedness, response and recovery. This practical application addresses the needs of both private industry as well as federal, state and local governments.

Fairfax-based Idalis Software provides a solution to the ever-increasing problems with spam and, more specifically, with spammers.  Idalis seeks to provide the most accurate, effective, and least intrusive system to deter the sending of spam, fraud, and e-mail borne viruses, and to eliminate the subsequent damage inflicted upon computer networks.

Rockville-based RemeGenix is a biotechnology company specializing in the development and commercialization of therapies for neurodegenerative diseases. Specifically, the company will focus on the commercialization of technologies for the treatment of Alzheimers disease, dementia and traumatic brain injury.  

Oakton-based The Learning Accelerator addresses the decline in writing skills among students and professionals by providing the only writing and assignment management products that are comprehensive, easy-to-use, web-based, and interactive. The company’s products will guide writers through the steps and thought processes necessary to produce high quality written products.  

Fairfax-based WorthPoint is the first web based 2.0 site for collectors. It will greatly simplify the way collectors find and share information for objects they own or contemplate buying. WorthPoint is for serious collectors who need authoritative price information to buy and sell their items plus an online community to make the exchange.  WorthPoint is also for the collector in all of us.

The five presenting companies are seeking $250,000 to $2 million in investment capital. The presenting companies were prescreened and selected by a committee comprised of Business Alliance members and University partners.  Preference was given to companies with proprietary products or services.  The Grubstake Breakfast program is a partnership activity with George Mason University.
