... The Grubstake Breakfast series began as an angels breakfast in 1988. Founded by Business Alliance volunteers working with George Mason University’s Mason Enterprise Center and the School of Management, the program has grown to regularly attract 200+ attendees to the events in Tysons Corner. Registrants include a mixture of not only angel but also institutional provides, entrepreneurs, George Mason University faculty and students, and service providers working with early stage and start up companies. According to 2007-08 Business Alliance Grubstake Breakfast Chair Susan King “our applicant pool never has been stronger.” The selection process is competitive not only because companies are further along in their business model than in years past but also because more firms are applying to present than in recent years.
